In 1982, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (aka The Wall) was dedicated in Washington D.C. to honor veterans and the 58,000 Americans killed in the Vietnam War. The Wall is a jet black stone wall bearing the names of every American lost in the Vietnam. It is a destination for thousands of people seeking to honor friends and family who didn’t make it home.
A traveling 80% scale representation of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial called American Veterans Traveling Tribute was created for those unable to make the trip to Washington DC. This traveling tribute came to Newport, Oregon yesterday.
The American Veterans Traveling Tribute is a centerpiece of Newport’s 2010 Loyalty Days celebration. The traveling wall made a stop in Lincoln City a few years ago, drawing crowds of veterans and family members that came to honor those they had lost.
The arrival of the memorial was in conjunction with the 1000 Flags display, a bridge walk over Newport’s Yaquina Bay. Participants all carried American Flags. We hope local residents and visitors take advantage of this opportunity to see this impressive and sobering monument.
The 1000 flag walk across the Yaquina Bay Bridge was followed by a spaghetti feed provided by Rogue Nation at the Rogue brewery. Loyalty Days events continue today and throughout the weekend. More information on individual events can be found here http://www.loyaltydays.com

Pin Envy takes Spirit; Pick Up Artists pick up No Tap Champs!
Brutal Bowlers managed to keep the same team score both games (550) AND take the championship title! Battling with Gutter Punks in the semi-final game, Brutal Bowlers sent them packing down the lanes to third place. I Can’t Believe It’s Not Gutter won by forfeit from Hollywood Spares and moved on to play Brutal Bowlers in a civilized battle for Tuesday Night Champs. Nicole and Don tried their best, but alas it wasn’t enough to top Brutal Bowlers. In No Tap News, Pick Up Artists were on FIYAH, picking up No Taps throughout the night and coming out on top to claim Tuesday Night No Tap Champs. Pin Envy won Spirit Champs by a landslide–all that spirit, all those shorty shorts and trips to Lippmans paid off! Way to go all!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PORTLAND, OR, April 23, 2010 – On Saturday, April 17, Rogue hosted the 3rd Annual Firkin Festival at the Green Dragon in SE Portland. The event showcased 17 cask-style beers from 17 Oregon breweries, including Brewers Union, Pelican, Block 15, Bridgeport, Deschutes, Rogue, Double Mountain, Eugene City Brewery, Hopworks, Laurelwood, Oakshire, Upright, Lucky Lab, Ninkasi, Lompoc, The Green Dragon and Beer Valley. Gourmet food from Kobe USA, Vosges Haut Chocolates and Steve’s Cheese Bar was also provided.
To be eligible for the festival, beers had to be unpasteurized, unfiltered, naturally carbonated in the cask and served at cellar temperature of 55 degrees. The Green Dragon tapped all 17 Firkins at midnight the night before the Festival. This allowed the beers to settle for nearly 12 hours prior to the event. Oregon Brewer’s Guild Executive Director, Brian Butenschoen was on hand to perform the ceremonial first-pour.
Profits will be donated to Buckman Arts Focus Elementary School, a neighborhood school that enhances the intellectual, social and academic development of its students through music, art, theater and creative movement. The Buckman School is located less than a mile from the Green Dragon.

The Rogue Nation is not the sponsor of this event for the author of “Going Rogue”.
She is not a member of the Rogue Nation and few politicians qualify.
We still don’t know her position on the admission of The Rogue Nation into the United Nation.
Rogue already has an Author Laureate: Dick Marcinko, of the Rogue Warrior books.
We do make a product called Pailing Porter, but it is not in her honor, it honors beer pails of years past. This product will be available only in April starting on the 1st.
We make Ales, Porters, Stouts, Lagers, Root Beer and Spirits, not politics.

Rogue Nation President
