The 162nd Mobility Augmentation Company Comes Home
I am pleased to announce that the 162 Mobility Augmentation Company, home stationed in Dallas, OR has returned home! Their Demobilization ceremony will take place today at 4:00pm in Dallas, OR. Each soldier will be presented with a custom 22oz special edition bottle during their return ceremony.
The 162nd Engineer Company, home stationed in Dallas, Oregon, deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom November 2009- November 2010. The company provided Route Clearance Operations to the United States Marine Corp (USMC) within Helmand Province, Afghanistan. 162nd was tactically controlled (TACON) as TASK FORCE BIGFOOT with two platoons from the 204 Engineer Company and under the Oregon command, to the 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion(CEB)-USMC and then the 3rd Combat Engineer Battalion –USMC. TASK FORCE BIGFOOT cleared 25,000km of route, spent more than 6,000 hours on active mission, and encountered nearly 200 IED events during its deployment. 162nd received the Combat Action Citation Streamer, was nominated for Presidential Unit Citation for performance with 2nd CEB, and had more than 31 Bronze Stars/ Meritorious Medals awarded to its soldiers during its deployment.
