All Rogue Flags will be flown at half mast today in honor of Geraldine Hoff Doyle, the World War II factory worker whose bandana-wearing image in a wire-service photo is said to have been the model for the woman depicted in the 1942 “We Can Do It” poster. The iconic wartime poster became an enduring symbol of women’s power from the Rosie the Riveter era.
Doyle died of age-related causes Sunday at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in Lansing, said her daughter Stephanie Gregg. Doyle was a 17-year-old high school graduate when she took a job at the American Broach & Machine Co. in her hometown of Ann Arbor, Mich., in 1942, a time when millions of women across the country were going to work to replace men who had gone to war.

For the last seven years, the Frozen Dead Guy Days festival has been held the first weekend in March in Nederland, Colorado, home to a cryogenically frozen man, Grandpa Bredo — the celebration’s “man of honor.” Stocking hats bearing the festival logo kept these two women warm during the snowy slow-motion parade. You just can’t have a Dead Guy Festival without Dead Guy Ale.

Today marks the Newport Fishermen and Friends First Annual Salty Dog Benefit. Guests enjoyed free servings of some of the freshest and best tasting Rogue Kobe Chili, bread bowl fishermen’s stew, clam chowder, and dungeness crab halves. All of these delicacies were served up for the small donation of three canned goods or containers full of non-perishable human or pet food. Proceeds benefit “My Sister’s Place” which is a shelter for battered women. Other beneficiaries include the Lincoln County Animal Shelter and Food Share.

This Santa Letter Goes Out to the U.S. Military – Stay Safe for the Holidays!!

Below is a different letter to our Rogue Sales Team from a Special Forces Group in Afghanistan…
Hey Rogue Pete,
Not sure if you remember but we met in San Antonio and you sent me some T-shirts and a flag to take on my deployment. Sorry it has taken so long but it has been busy here and being Special Forces we have to wait on pictures to be cleared before we can send them, but attached is a picture I hope will go up in the brewery to show how much the Soldiers appreciate the support of the Rogue nation. Thanks again for all your support. I can’t wait to get home and have a Rogue beer!
