INDEPENDENCE, OR (August 2013) – The 2013 hop harvest is in full swing at Rogue Farms, grower of beer and spirits. Rogue Farms is picking six varieties of hops during the four week long harvest season at its farm in Independence, Oregon — the Historic Hops Capital of The World.
Rogue Farms grows its own hops to create a proprietary palate of flavors of farm fresh ingredients for John Maier to use as he creates Rogue ales, lagers, porters, stouts, mead, kolsch, braggot and spirits.
The hops grown by Rogue Farms are also processed on the farm. By picking, stripping, separating, sorting, kilning, cooling and bailing the hops just a few feet from where they were grown, Rogue Farms can touch, see and sniff the cones every step of the journey, from bine to brew. It’s the best way to create farm fresh beer and spirits using ingredients of known origin.
