Bee Saviour Awarded Lifesaving Medals

ROGUE NATION
OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT

April 5, 2012

I have awarded 1,023,317 Gold Lifesaving Medals to Deputy Under Secretary of Agriculture, Josh Cronin, for his daring and dramatic rescue of 19 colonies of Rogue Farmstead Honeybees, which received airlift transport from the Rogue Rye Field minutes before it was overtaken by floodwaters.

At this time, the flood is being considered a direct act of terrorism and has yet to be claimed. I have instructed the Rogue Nation Department of Farmland Security to launch a full investigation into the matter. I also ask any Rogue Nation Citizen with information to contact me personally at RogueNationPresident@Rogue.com.

Video: Ride with John Maier, Rogue Brewmaster

John Maier is officially the first rider to sign up for the 2012 AMGEN People’s Coast Classic, a six-day charity cycling event benefiting the Arthritis Foundation. Starting in Astoria at the mouth of the Columbia River and snaking down the temperate Oregon Coast to Brookings Harbor, this ride combines cycling and adventure against the backdrop of the sun setting into the Pacific Ocean.

Our friends at the Arthritis Foundation shot a great short piece on John’s commute to work in the morning. Rain or shine, John is on his bike – even crossing the Yaquina Bay Bridge in 50+ mile per hour winds. Dedication.

Stay tuned for more information on the ride, or sign up at: http://www.thepeoplescoastclassic.org

A Toast To Oregon’s Dungeness Crab Season

NEWPORT, OR February 23rd, 2012

Oregon’s Dungeness crabbers harvested 5,238,937 crabs so far this season, but only 6 of them were selected for the 2012 batch of Dungeness Crab Porter.

Now on tap at Rogue Public Houses, Dungeness Crab Porter is brewed with live crabs. It’s delicious and unique flavor makes it the perfect beer to pair with seafood, but especially with the fresh, whole Dungeness Crabs that Rogue is serving on Sundays during Oregon’s Crab season. This is how Dungeness was meant to be eaten; chilled, served with lemon, warm butter made with Rogue Brutal IPA, a bib, a crab cracker and – for the truly adventurous – a Dungeness Crab Hat.

Dungeness Crab Porter is one of the ways Rogue shares the beer and seafood bounty of its hometown of Newport, Oregon, the Dungeness Crab Capital of the World. Other beers include Yaquina Bay Oyster Stout, made with fresh oysters from Yaquina Bay, and Captain Sig’s Northwestern Ale. It’s named for Sig Hansen, star of the reality show, Deadliest Catch.

Starting Today – Sunday, February 23 -26, 2012, Rogue hosts the Newport Seafood and Wine Festival in the parking lot of Rogue’s World Headquarters on South Beach.

The Rogue’s World Headquarters is also located next to some of the best crabbing on Yaquina Bay. Any day of the year, visitors can drop a pot off the back dock and catch their own Dungeness and then walk across the parking lot to use the cleaning stations at the Rogue House of Spirits.

Rogue Knows Seafood

ROGUE KNOWS SEAFOOD
In Newport, We Don’t Just Craft World Class Ales & Spirits.
We Also Can World Class Albacore Tuna.

We know who catches our tuna. His name is Herb. He docks his boat right across the
bay from us. We wave to him as he sails in and out of Yaquina Bay.

Herb uses craft canning methods in small batches that result in better tasting tuna,
cooked in its own natural juices. No added water or oil.

The perfect complement to one of our ales and a partnership that makes good on our
promise to feed the fisherman.

Disaster Area: Free Range Water Main

Seal of the President

ROGUE NATION
OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT

February 7, 2012

The disaster area has been moved from the Hopyard, where slugs consumed 15 acres of Rye in 24 hours and where Daisy and Josh were stranded by high waters for 10 days, to Newport where several weeks ago hurricane force winds tipped an empty beer truck over on the Yaquina Bay Bridge. There were no injuries but traffic was tied up on Highway 101 both ways for 3 hours. The same storm, it has now been discovered, brought in a log which hit our free range waterline under Yaquina Bay and caused major damage, leaking 600,000 gallons a day.

We have been advised by the city that residents should have a three day emergency kit including a supply of water for everyone in the family. Roughly three gallons of water a day per person. City water will be available at the city shops at NE 3rd Street. Be sure you bring your own water containers. Make sure to bring home enough water to flush your toilets. The sewer system will be working fine, but it takes water to flush toilets. Military type showers may be in order: Water on. Water off. Lather up. Water rinse. Grab towel.

Along with our South Beach neighbors, we are in conservation mode – blessed by a brewing style which utilizes a high quotient of hops and barley to water – 4oz of grain in a 12oz Dead Guy.

Letter of Commendation to Hopyard Flood Survivors

Seal of the President

ROGUE NATION
OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT

January 30, 2012

I have issued a Letter of Commendation to Farm Manager Natascha Cronin and her husband, Josh Cronin, who start their second week stranded by flood waters at the Chatoe Rogue Hopyard in Independence, Oregon.

Not only did Natascha and Josh not fall into a life raft, but also refused to be evacuated.

Natascha says, “I am the captain of this ship and I will not leave my post.”
